The number of confirmed coVID-19 cases in the United States has risen to 1,3203,218 as of 16:25 EASTERN Time Wednesday, and the number of deaths has risen to 265,897, according to the epidemic statistics released by Johns Hopkins University. Over the past 24 hours, there have been more than 156,000 new cases of coVID-19 diagnosed in the United States in a single day, compared with about the same time a day earlier.

According to real-time Worldometers statistics, as of 1636 EDT November 28, novel Coronavirus confirmed 62.43 million cases, 458,316 new cases to 62,438,721 cases, 1.45 million deaths and 7,795 new cases to 145,6100 cases. The number of countries with more than 100,000 confirmed cases remains at 66.

New global champions confirmed cases of more than 1 million countries up to 12, respectively is the United States (13.58 million), India (9.39 million), Brazil (6.23 million), Russia (2.24 million), France (2.2 million), Spain (1.64 million), Britain (1.6 million), Italy (1.56 million), Argentina (1.4 million), Colombia (1.29 million), Mexico (1.09 million) and Germany (1.04 million).

The United States (270,000), Brazil (170,000) and India (130,000) are the three countries with more than 100,000 coVID-19 deaths worldwide.Novel Coronavirus confirmed 13.58 million cases in the United States, with an increase of 113023 to 13580007 cases, accounting for about one fifth of the world’s confirmed cases. The number of deaths reached 270,000, with 1,052 new cases to 272,093, accounting for nearly a fifth of global deaths. The UK is set to become the first Western country to approve a vaccine for COVID-19, with independent regulatory approval expected within days. Deliveries of vaccines developed by BioNTech and Pfizer will begin within hours of approval, according to UK government sources. The first injection is likely to begin on December 7, according to people familiar with the matter. A vaccine developed by Astrazeneca and Oxford University could do the same. The government sent a letter to regulators on Friday asking them to review the Astrazeneca – Oxford vaccine.

Despite more good news on vaccines, americans now need to “lean in” and prepare for the tough winter ahead, according to Dr. Leana Wen, an emergency physician and visiting professor at the Milken School of Public Health at George Washington University.

“We can’t let down our guard,” she told CNN on Friday night. “There may be a lot of improvement next spring and summer, but the situation won’t change until then.”

She said the current number of COVID-19 cases in the United States shows the country is far from reaching a tipping point.

Dr Wen said: “If anything, we are entering a disaster. We are going to be over 2,000 people dying soon, maybe 3,000 to 4,000 people dying every day in the United States.”

That prediction was echoed by other experts, including Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a professor of medicine at George Washington University. He predicted on Wednesday that the daily death toll in the US could double within 10 days and that it would soon see “close to 4,000 deaths a day”.

Experts say Thanksgiving travel and gatherings this week are likely to only further fuel the rise in cases.

Dr. Reiner has previously described the holiday as “the mother of all potential super-spreader events,” in which Americans leave every airport in the country carrying the virus, often without knowing it.

The CENTERS for Disease Control and Prevention warned Americans not to travel on Thanksgiving, but millions of people have taken to the air since the warning was issued. Travel industry groups expect Sunday to be the busiest day for travel since the outbreak began. All are now on their way home from their holiday destinations.

Dr Wen said all those travelling or gathering indoors should be quarantined to prevent further spread of the virus.

“This is because novel Coronavirus is the highest risk of spreading, especially indoor parties where many people haven’t worn masks in a long time,” she said Friday. Quarantine for at least seven days before testing. If testing is not possible due to limited testing, you should isolate yourself for 14 days. I mean complete isolation, don’t go to work, don’t go to school, try to stay safe.”
